Charles Robbins Hutchinson (May 8, 1838 – December 24, 1927) joined Hightstown Lodge #41 in 1867 and served as Junior Warden in 1869, then Senior Warden in 1870 before serving as Worshipful Master in 1871-72. A long-time resident of Allentown, New Jersey, Hutchinson operated a general store before entering the real estate and insurance business.
Worshipful Brother Hutchinson was a fervent amateur historian and wrote approximately twenty books on genealogy and local history. His collection of papers was acquired by the New Jersey Historical Society soon after his death, and his life’s work has been an invaluable resource to local historians. His meticulous record-keeping and research, for example, was used to firmly establish when Upper Freehold Township was founded.
