Clifford LeRoy Shangle (December 4, 1882 – August 17, 1962) was born in Hightstown, attended the Peddie School, and graduated from what was then called Rider Business College. He joined his father John in the running of the family foundry until it was sold in 1905, and later became the co-owner of a local lumber business named Shangle & Hunt. In 1913 he became the third generation of Shangles to become Worshipful Master of Hightstown Lodge #41, following after his father John and grandfather Sering.
Prior to his term as Worshipful Master, Clifford was active in local politics and served as a page to New Jersey State Senator Harry D. Leavitt in 1909. The same year he served on the ways and means committee of the Hightstown Athletic Association.
